DRENCHED IN DAZE by JRC

there i was
out in the rain
a cyst on the neck
of fear and pain
i couldnt forget
and to my disdain
that i was a flaw on
the human stain

and yet these threads
will never fray
i'll never waste
another day
within my head
of foggy gray
nothing left to
think or say

rays of hope
rip out my skin
these brittle bones
may break and bend
my mind's wall
i still defend
upon a wish
a star will lend

BELL'S BEST (8-23-15)

FREEDOM by JRC

[refrain]
F is for fantasy
R is for ride
ride with me and
open your eyes

E is for everything
you'd ever wish for
E is for echoes, voices and whispers

D is the door to
those that ignore you and
O an apology
for all that you've been through

M i gonna make the change
in my hands, freedom rings
a ray of hope comes from the sky
salvation is what it brings

EAGER by JRC

these walls, they blindfold me
confine me, withhold me
burn me and scold me
but no one has told me

what you wrote so boldly
could never control me
you thought you have bought me
but that was the old me

i will not be hopeless
when you let me down
i'm better and focused
and i stand my ground

the one who is broke is
the one who is closest
to the edge of defeat

as sad as this joke is
i do have to go 'cause
i'm at the edge of my seat

INCREDIBLE by JRC

torn, i examine emerald skin
these ivory teeth cannot help but grin
as day and night soon reconcile
my prescence greets you with a vicious smile

feline mindfulness by JRC

she, alert and alive, waited patiently, persistantly, curious as to what this life entails. her ample vigor allows her to, quietly, stalk her prey and yet, at the precise moment, pounce. the predator, she was agile, elite but still beautiful. she was as beautiful as her sleek and silky fur coat warranted. independant, she was respectful as her mother raised her but not bashful enough to resist sinking her claws into supper while her sharp and piercing teeth would follow. even with her brothers and sisters, she would allow them preview her playful bite as they would all wrestle, each one ready to tackle upon reflex. however, one day, she will be separated and become a blooming family's housewarming guest. Perspective by JRC

Lately, I've been pondering a few things. Lets say, you have a nice, luxurious lawn. You water it, mow it, take care of it to the best of your ability. Your lawn looks vibrant but on the other hand, your neighbors lawn looks atrocious. There are dirt patches, crab grass, and everything is overgrown. One day, your neighbor comes over for dinner. The topic comes up, you've got an excellent backyard out there, if only I had the time, mine could match. You say something like, well your lawn is kind of an eye sore, maybe you could put some effort into it, I mean I spend hours daily on my lawn. But wait a minute, he says, your retired so you have all the time in the world to tend to yours, I on the other hand work at an important business and have to work, what may be hours of yard work you do, I am also working hours, hours at work, hours raising a Family, and every night while you're admiring your lawn, I am admiring my nice family and career, it is very fulfilling. Now I ask one question, which neighbor's grass is really the greenest?

GREEN TEA by JRC

green tea

I'm so fresh you
can't stomach the taste
and I guess you need a rescue
when you burn what you waste

And, I, Couldn't breathe
when you told me
this potion of yours, scolding
crisp and ever bodly
this craving is the only
thing that I must sip
that I must savor
do you get my drift
when the flavor
crosses lips
it's like a brisk
wind came and kissed
the sweetness can't be missed

the honey, sweet money
refreshing when it's sunny
I blew all my cash
got my high and then I crashed
drowned and torn, flat on my bed
OH, what it did to my poor head
should've got decaf (thought twice) instead

U4YA by JRC

Imagine, you are in a hammock tied between two trees. Ask yourself, what kind of trees, what color is the bark, what might the texture feel like. Where might this hammock be located, what time of day is it, how is the weather....dwell in this place, notice any imagined sensations you might feel. Use your five senses. Ponder, do not judge anything as good or bad, just perceive it as ordinary, nothing special. Or maybe extraordinary...you decide. As you dwell in this place, feel the wind gently rocking you and the hammock and the trees as one. Relax and enjoy

BELL'S BEST APRIL 20 TO PRESENT

THOUGHT 12-16-14

One night, I was listening to some earth-shattering music, when I came accross the urge to write. It was an upbeat and triumphant flux of chemicals rushing through my veins. My heart rate kept competing with the intensity of the music. Ripples of soundwaves filled my ears and the ants kept marching on.  -JRC

SQUALIFORM by JRC

flourescent fins vibrate the lungs of the ocean
pale grey skin gives way to eruptions of exposed fleshy muscle
teeth, jagged and jutting, pierce it's bloody gums
as it fiercely divides the water with its mammoth grace

COURAGE ON THE EDGE OF SOLACE by JRC

reach for the stars, they're glistening tonight
and embrace the wind as it slowly gives you flight
even the sky's not limited to how far you can go
sifting through the clouds of white, there's so much you can know

peace in your mind, drifting at a feather's pace
and to pass every thought, there's still a quiet place
even through these vintage halls, your heart's achieved much more
'cause attached to every knob, there always stands a door

still don't blink, the lights might fade
don't close your eyes, your dream is made

it's made of gold and silver-lined
through thick and bold, it's intertwined
auroras now bring hope and bliss
as love always will give a kiss

THE LAUGHTER OF CATS by JRC

feline friendly kiss
in purring jurisdiction
a furry embrace

a decieving lure
curiosity killed it
instinct made it so

patience was the key
perserverance made it turn
passion pulled the door
